Some concerts are good because the band plays all your favorite songs. Other times, the band doesn’t play any of your favorite songs, but they do play the setlist so well you just don’t care. Last Friday night Umphrey’s McGee managed to pull that trick off.

Strange personal coincidence, I just picked up the 10th Anniversary release of 10 Things I Hate About You which features the song quite prominently.
Is there a more perfect expression of rock and roll than Born to Run?
I think not.
The second round of Roktoberfest 2009 took place on a Thursday night at the wonderful Ark in Ann Arbor. Playing was up and coming bluegrass band Greensky Bluegrass.
Starting last Tuesday and running until mid-November I will be attending on average approximately one concert a week. Casting about for a catchy name to describe this oddity I settled on Roktoberfest 2009. The first band on the docket? The Silversun Pickups playing at the Orbit Room in Grand Rapids.
Taking a cue from an All Songs blog, I compiled a list of 50 bands I’ve seen live as they came to mind. I wasn’t quite able to get them written down in true stream of concious style as the exercise properly demands, but it came close
