I got a some new art the other day.

Matted and framed by me, quite a slapdash effort if you ask me. The classy piece, which now graces my front hallway, is by the dashing John A
The Three Panel Soul from Monday absolutely slayed me. I need to get Mike to shout that out whenever Awen pulls a boss.
http://www.questionablecontent.net oh-ho-ho, I see what you did there. Pretty sneaky webcomic guys. http://www.xkcd.com is also in on the action I see.
I’ve been giving a bit of thought to Megatokyo recently. Basically trying to determine when things “went wrong.” MT’s a comic that is without a doubt pretty polarizing, heck there’s a sizable number of people on the site’s own forum that profess to hate the strip and never read it. Obviously, better men than I have dissected MT and I definitely agree with that basic argument, the strip lost a lot of life when Rodney left. Yes, this is basically piling onto the chorus and is a piece of analysis nearly 5 years too late, however I know of one simple way to fix at least some of what went wrong. Namely, tone down Largo. For some unknown reason I found myself poking through the MT archives and discovered that way back when Largo was a much more realistic character. It’s almost as if in an attempt to compensate from the lose of Rodney’s voice Fred over-amped the Largo character so that now he cannot go two words before descending into “leet-speak.” In essence the character is a parody of what he once was. If Fred simply ratcheted back the crazy, and didn’t have him talk with quite the overwrought dialogue (and cleaned up his art a bit more) MT would be a much better strip.
It’s certainly not ground-breaking, earth-shattering, or even particularly controversial to the world at large, but the recent events in Questionable Content have certainly struck a chord with myself, and probably the rest of the comic’s readership as well. So what then do I think of Faye and Sven banging? And if you have no clue what I’m talking go read Questionable Content it’s good times.
