Busy weekend on World of Warcraft for me. It was the first time I’d done any raiding in ages, and in many ways the first time I’ve ever truly raided since my previous two times were very perfunctory. So how did it go? I’m glad you asked.

On Friday night I ran Karazhan. Obviously it was the first time I’ve ever set foot in the place. Fortunately the guild I’m in pretty much has Kara down to a science. There were a few several wipes, probably due in part to my nubness, poor little Miriel is still a tad undergeared for even off-tanking Kara. And there definitely were more than a couple times where, even after getting the run down on what to do I was still left feeling a little lost. We made it through the whole raid, only be smashed by Nightbane a couple of times. I did pretty well loot-wise getting some excellent healing gear.

Saturday was all about instances. Logged on mid-morning and met with my brother and a couple of other guildies. It’s impressive how easy-mode normal difficulties 5-mans are when you’re running them with people who regularly run Heroics and raids. We crushed Black Morass three times in under two hours to get me up to Revered with Keepers of Time and the sweet, sweet rep gear that goes along with it. In addition to the rep gear the legs for the D3 set dropped from Aeoneous, so that was nice. After BM we burned through Steam Vaults, with me tanking no less. Sadly neither the chest piece or helmet I wanted to drop did, but that’s generally the way it goes. For the finale we turned our gaze to Botannica, and even with my tentative tanking, made it cry. Unfortunately, just like in Steam Vaults, the drops did not go my way and I didn’t get my shoulders I desperately need. Hopefully those will drop the next time I run the instance, which I have to for the Arcatraz key quest chain. And if not then, well rep runs are fine too.

All in all, a solid weekend in Azeroth for me. The raiding was something different; though in truth it’s not that different from five mans, just scaled up a bunch, but I still think it might be a bit too much Serious Business for my taste. That being said, the loot was delicious, so it might be worth it to make a few more runs.
